Meeting Point for the BERN Economy

From Niederwangen to the World: THE ENTREPRENEUR EVENT hosted by mb-microtec

How does successful international expansion work? And what are the advantages and disadvantages of different forms of internationalization? On Thursday, January 23, 2020, the topic "Internationalization from the Idyllic" will be the focus in Niederwangen. mb-microtec, the Bernese discoverer and inventor of the self-lighting technology trigalight, will act as the host of the annual entrepreneur event and invites like-minded people for an exchange of knowledge and experience.

Founded in 1969 in Niederwangen near Bern, the Swiss company mb-microtec is today the global market leader in the development, production, and manufacture of self-illuminating gas light sources under the brand name trigalight. mb-microtec exports around 90 percent of its goods, but all development and production still take place under one roof in its birthplace in Niederwangen. "Switzerland is the ideal economic location," says mb-microtec CEO Roger Siegenthaler. "Political stability, well-trained specialists, and the resulting endless possibilities for development and production are just some of the reasons why our country is so attractive."

From Entrepreneur to Entrepreneur

Under the motto "Dynamics from the Idyllic - Acting Globally with Local Forces," the upcoming entrepreneur event on Thursday, January 23, 2020, will revolve around questions and experiences regarding the internationalization of companies based in rural idylls like Niederwangen near Bern. THE ENTREPRENEUR EVENT was founded in 2012 by StiftungsZentrum.ch GmbH based in Bern and annually brings entrepreneurs and experts to the stage. This creates a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience, involving young companies and start-ups. In addition to practical keynotes, the upcoming edition with host mb-microtec will also include an individual company tour and a watch show of the in-house watch brand traser. In addition to CEO Roger Siegenthaler, Milo-Jonas Gasser, Managing Director of ASIC Robotics AG, Bernhard U. Bischoff, Managing Director of Galerie Kornfeld AG, and Prof. Dr. Stefan Weber, CEO of CAScination AG, as well as Monika Walser, CEO and partner of de Sede AG, will answer questions in specialist lectures and an entrepreneur discussion. They will also report on their internationalization experiences. "We are very pleased to be the host of the entrepreneur event in 2020," says Roger Siegenthaler. "The large event offers the perfect platform for exchange and networking between established Bernese companies with different strategies, but also enough space for the fresh approaches of young start-ups."

The concluding aperitif is all about the exchange between regional companies in a relaxed atmosphere - practical and different, just as the entrepreneur event aims to be.
